Offering superior quality, supreme product, and maximum efficiency in millwork and fabrication, the 3,000 sq. ft. AXIS studio and production facility in New Orleans' Bywater Neighborhood serves a broad spectrum of residential and commercial furniture, cabinet and storefront markets. From modest beginnings in 1996, AXIS performed small-scale renovations and served their clients with custom products designed beyond the offerings of often uninspiring furniture and cabinet "catalogue retail." Owner Dean Kageler set his work apart by implementing a craftsman philosophy that "every AXIS project, along with serving its function, must resonate with the intrinsic qualities of patience, observance, accuracy, intent, and the human touch." This philosophy continues to permeate the AXIS working style and product today.
Enhancing the AXIS philosophy, the studio and production facility is structured with focus on a lean manufacturing style - "from raw material to finished product by way of minimum production steps and maximum quality control." A wide array of advanced tools and equipment allows for complete in-house manufacturing of most every component incorporated into their projects. AXIS also performs installation of their product as further assurance to their clients that the highest quality work continues through the entire process. The materials and methods employed in every project always exceed industry standards. Client referrals speak to the great success and beauty of AXIS work.
AXIS presently offers an assembly of four studio production team members under Dean's leadership. The AXIS team shares their diverse talents in woodworking and construction fabrication to accomplish a wide variety of challenging custom projects. Through every phase of every project, team members contribute their own measure of quality with reflection to the intent of the AXIS philosophy. Along with the AXIS team, Dean works closely with a group of select, highly talented, independent designers to jointly approach projects from concepting, through design and fabrication, to installation. Several such collaborative relationships produced projects that earned AXIS national recognition, with several awards and publications honoring their work.
With sights set on creating a collaborative "compound" at the Bywater facility, Dean Kageler envisions uniting a team of industry professionals in a newly proposed building expansion to work together on every aspect of the building process. The goal of this creative venture aims at not only promoting communication and exchange amongst professionals, but more importantly, offering clients a single source for the concept, design and production of innovative, high quality, and expertly crafted built form for a range of project needs.
